Joshua Alpert, M.D.
Sports Medicine
Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist, Ankle, Foot, Knee
Dr. Alpert is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who completed his sports medicine fellowship at Harvard/Massachusetts General Hospital. He currently cares for student athletes as the team physician for Judson University, Larkin, Elgin, South Elgin, and Dundee Crown High Schools, as well as the Chicago Inferno Soccer Club.
Dr. Alpert’s particular specialty is the evaluation and treatment of patients with knee and shoulder pain. When conservative measures can be applied successfully to avoid surgery, Dr. Alpert will recommend an individualized treatment plan that may include physical therapy, cortisone injections, lubricant injections, and/or PRP therapy. When conservative care has been unsuccessful, Dr. Alpert performs knee arthroscopy (in the case of meniscus or ACL tears) and shoulder arthroscopy (for rotator cuff or labral tears), as well as shoulder replacements for arthritis.
In addition to treating patients with sports injuries, Dr. Alpert also commonly sees patients with work-related injuries to the shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee, ankle and foot. He performs Independent Medical Examinations and is certified to perform Impairment Ratings as per the 6th Edition AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment.
Dr. Alpert is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine (AOSSM). He resides in Deerfield with his family.
